I really enjoyed the fact that Auggie was brave enough to try go to school. He was home schooled his whole life because of all his surgeries, but now he is finally starting middle school, Grade 5. He had trouble finding friends, but there was one girl named Summer who came to sit with him at lunch one day. She did not care what her other friends thought and tried to become friends with him. That really stood out for me, it made me very happy.
This story has made me become more aware of people who have facial problems. When I say aware, I mean to not stare or treat them in any different way to how we are treated. They are human, the same person inside and can be awesome friends.
I think that Via, Auggie's sister, is a lot like me. I am very protective over my brother and I want him to always be happy. He has food allergies and I always make sure that he eats the right things because I care about him a lot. If something is troubling him I will always try to make it right.
I am so eager to finish the book because I always want to know what is going to happen next. I, without a doubt, recommend that every child should definitely read this wonderful book. Remember, always treat people in a nice way, even if they look different to you, they are the same inside. Choose kind!
